Baptism
Baptism is a step in your spiritual journey of faith in Christ. Baptism does not make you a Christian. It is simply an obedient response and expression of your faith and commitment to Christ. Every example we see in the Bible demonstrates that first a person comes to believe in Christ, and then he or she is baptized as an expression of that belief.
In Romans 6:1-11 the apostle Paul explains how baptism by immersion identifies the believer with the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Going underwater illustrates that death and burial, coming up out of the water illustrates His resurrection. When you come to faith in Christ, an inner change takes place. Baptism is the outward expression of the inward commitment you have made to Jesus Christ.

When should someone be Baptized?
A person should be baptized after they have trusted in Jesus for forgiveness of their sins. Jesus tells us to make disciples and baptize - and we believe He meant it to be done in that order. That’s also the pattern we see in the Bible in places like Acts 8:38. Since we want to be sure that a person being baptized fully understands their decision, we don’t baptize children under the age of 8. Depending on the child’s level of understanding, parents may want to encourage their kids to wait even longer until they’re mature enough to make the decision for themselves.
What if I was Baptized before?
If you were baptized as an infant or at any time before you trusted in Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, we encourage you to be baptized again.
If you’d like to be baptized at Shore Fellowship. . .
We encourage you to first attend our Intro to Shore Life and NEXT classes where one of our pastors explains who we are as a church, what it means to be baptized and answers questions you may have about getting plugged in, partnering with us and growing deeper in your faith.
We also want to hear your story, or testimony of how you came to know Jesus as your Savior. To submit your testimony online, please click here. All testimonies must be received at least two weeks prior to getting baptized.
Our next baptism event will be Easter Weekend during all 5 of our worship experiences. Please indicate below what Easter experience you would like to baptized in.
