Q: Why choose FamilyLife’s Weekend to Remember over another marriage getaway?
A: FamilyLife’s Weekend to Remember has been attended by more than 1.2 million couples during the past 34 years. This getaway clearly communicates God’s plan and purpose for bringing different people together in a covenant relationship. Together you will work through the unique threats to your relationship: communication, intimacy, resolving conflict, and leaving a legacy of a healthy marriage. Last year, more than 65,000 people across the country spent one weekend working on their marriages and walked away with a game plan to help their marriages last a lifetime.
Q: Can we bring children?
A: FamilyLife cares deeply about children. However, to keep your weekend free of distractions and as a courtesy to other participants, children (including nursing infants) are not allowed in any session. FamilyLife is unable to provide child care during the getaway.
Q: Will I have to engage in group discussion?
A: There are no group settings in which you would be asked to comment on the getaway content or your relationship.
Q: Will I be required to participate in the projects with my spouse?
A: Completing the projects with your spouse is highly recommended and necessary in order to have the complete getaway experience. We receive many comments from guests who say the projects were the best part of the getaway.
Q: Can singles attend a Weekend to Remember?
A: Yes. In fact, there are two special breakout sessions for pre-marrieds. The getaway will give pre-married couples a clear understanding of what a marriage commitment truly means and is a great foundation to start their marriage.
Q: I have been divorced. Will I feel uncomfortable?
A: We understand that divorce is a reality, and we have designed this getaway with that reality in mind. Our focus is on the condition of your current marriage, rather than creating guilt for mistakes made in the past. We also recognize that even in such an environment, one might feel uncomfortable at times because of past memories and regrets that are stirred up. Our prayer is that you would come excited to make your current marriage a strong, healthy, lasting one, even if it means dealing with some painful memories.
